- Since 25 November 2025 under-18s have lost open-ended chat, and adults face Persona selfie or ID checks.
- Six apps allow adult roleplay between adults: naughti.ai, Candy AI, OurDream AI, SpicyChat, JuicyChat and Janitor AI. Each bans content with minors.
- I do not cover filter bypasses or ways around age checks: they break the terms, and age checks exist for legal reasons.

No. Character.AI does not allow adult content for any user, paid or free, verified or not. Its help center has said since 2023 that it “does not and will not support” pornographic content, and the c.ai+ FAQ says output is the same on both plans. Searches for “character ai no filter” and “uncensored ai chat” mostly come from adults who hit this wall.

In practice: “no filter” never means “no rules”. Every app here bans content involving minors and removes accounts that try it.
Age checks are a legal requirement in more and more places, so expect them. Character.AI uses Persona. SpicyChat requires a video selfie, with ID as a fallback, in France, the UK, Italy, Australia and 26 US states, and says it never stores the images or IDs. naughti.ai uses a self-declared 18+ gate at entry, and its site code sends some buyers to an age-verification step after purchase; the provider is not stated.

The company has said it does not and will not support pornographic content, and c.ai+ gives the same output as the free plan. Guides that promise a bypass break the terms and can get an account banned.
No. In 2025 and 2026 Character.AI added age checks with Persona and removed open-ended chat for under-18s from 25 November 2025, but verified adults did not get an adult mode. Its App Store listing is rated 18+ because of the age checks, not because adult content is allowed.
