On Character.AI you open a character and type the first line. On naughti.ai each scenario starts with a written opening, a premade character and a situation; your choices branch the scene, and premium moments unlock pre-made video. When you want to go off the rails, the off-script chat lets you talk to a character freely.
In practice: if you often spent the first ten messages on Character.AI setting a scene, naughti.ai does that for you. If inventing the scene is the fun part, it will feel limiting.

Character.AI’s prices are public: c.ai+ is $9.99 a month or $94.99 a year, and c.ai lite is $4.99 a month. naughti.ai’s membership costs €14.99 a month (about $16.79), €29.99 per 3 months (about $33.59) or €59.99 a year (about $67.19), shown after sign-up; it unlocks all scenarios and chats and includes 30 credits a month for premium video. Purchased credits only work while you hold an active membership and expire after 180 days without one. All sales are final, except for double billing, an outage over 24 hours or verified fraud.
naughti.ai is run by NaughtiAI OÜ (Tallinn, Estonia), a GDPR data controller. Its policy says chats go to third-party AI models only to generate replies, are not used for advertising, are not sold, and chat history is deleted or anonymised on request. Character.AI’s privacy page did not render for me; during its asset sale, its policy allows user information to transfer to a buyer. See Character AI bankruptcy.

On the App Store, Character.AI holds 4.3 stars from about 560,000 ratings. The common complaints in 2026 are age checks that misflag adults, ads and limits on the free plan, and the ban on adult content. Its Chapter 11 filing on 12 October 2026 adds uncertainty about its future.
