Character.AI does not allow adult content for anyone. There is no 18+ mode, and paying for c.ai+ does not change it: its FAQ says output is “the same” on free and paid plans. Adults who pass its Persona selfie or ID check still get the filter. Candy AI is built for adults and allows explicit chat, images and video with the companion you create. Both ban anything involving minors.
If the filter is your only problem, Candy AI fixes it. If you also loved Character.AI’s endless library of other people’s characters, Candy AI will feel small: you build your own instead.
On Character.AI you search millions of user-made characters, from anime heroes to study buddies, and can put several in a group chat. On Candy AI you pick a realistic or anime style, set looks, personality and voice, then chat with that companion and ask for pictures of them. There is no official way to move a Character.AI character over; you copy its description and greeting and rebuild it. The switching guide walks through it.
Character.AI’s c.ai+ is $9.99 a month or $94.99 a year and has no token meter; the free plan stays usable with ads and slow mode. Candy AI’s plans look close on paper, but images, voice and video spend tokens. Third-party figures put an image at 4 tokens, a voice call at 3 a minute and image-to-video at 12, against 100 included tokens a month.

In practice: for text roleplay, Character.AI is cheaper as long as you accept the filter. Once you want images or video, Candy AI’s bill depends on how much you generate.
Character.AI publishes pinned memories and Chat Memories, with better memory on c.ai+; users still complain that bots forget recent context. It also had outages on 15 February, 12 March and 17 June 2026. Candy AI does not publish a memory size, and one detailed review reports memory resetting after 48 to 72 hours.

Candy AI is run by EverAI Limited (company C107181) in Malta, an EU company under GDPR, and names its card descriptor: EverAI. Reviewers note it publishes no end-to-end encryption. I did not review its privacy policy in detail.
naughti.ai, made by the team behind this site, sits between the two: adult content like Candy AI, but premade characters like Character.AI. You pick one of about 50 written, branching scenarios or chat off-script with about 37 characters, with pre-made video clips on credits. You cannot design your own character.
